The technology

The system has been designed specifically for Paddy Power’s betting shops, and will record a player’s contact information and image. The self-exclusion system is set to be instant, so as soon as a player opts for self-exclusion, they will no longer be able to play at the shop. The system, which is hosted by an Android or iOS mobile device, will also automatically send these details to up to 10 nearby Paddy Power betting shops in the local area, and will provide a responsive interface for staff in those stores.Paddy Power Introduces New Self-Exclusion System For Shops

Quick support

Speaking of the new system, David Newton, MD of Paddy Power, said:”Providing quick support for customers who want to self-exclude is a key element of our responsible gambling agenda.”We believe that this new process will make self-exclusion easier and quicker for our customers and hope that other retail betting-operators join us in providing this service.”The system is expected to be officially rolled out across all Paddy Power stores in June of 2018, with the system also being made available in Paddy power’s Irish stores by the end of the year.Self-exclusion is seen by many as the most important tool in allowing vulnerable gamblers to take control of their gambling habits, and that should become easier once Paddy Power’s electronic system is launched this year, we can expect other brands to follow suit soon
