It was only a matter of time before the increasingly popular online facial expression based language of emojis took the step over to the iGaming world, and NetEnt is to be the software developer to do it.The Swedish provider has announced an exclusive deal to produce an official Emoji-based slot game, which is due for release in Q3 of 2017.The release date of the game is to be timed for just after the forthcoming emoji movie, starring Patrick Stewart, is released.

About the slot

Little is known at this point about the slot itself, apart from that it will be called Emojiplanet, but NetEnt being NetEnt, we can be fairly confident that the game will have some exciting bonus features, and amazing graphics and animations.NetEnt have teamed up with the official Emoji Company to develop the game, and have suggested that it will be a unique social gaming experience.

Responses

Chief Product officer of NetEnt, Simon Hammon, said of the news:”Emojis is a perfect fit with NetEnt… ‘Every day, millions – if not billions – of people around the world enjoy using Emojis. They have become a language in their own right; it is hard to think of a more collectively familiar and loved brand to partner up with.”Jens Drinkwater, Licensing Manager at Global Merchandising Services Ltd, added:“We are tremendously excited to bring the colourful and exciting world from the emoji company to the gaming community. We are sure that the Emojiplanet game will be a fantastic success for players of all ages.”There is a while to wait until this slot is released, as it will be landing some time between July and September, 2017 (we’ll have to wait for the Q3 Roadmap to know exactly when) but it definitely looks like it’s going to be worth the wait!
