It’s fine to be proud of your country, most people love the place they come from, and despite the preference of some to take patriotism to unpleasant degrees, it is, on a base level, a lovely thing. It is therefore no real surprise that a fair few online casinos are themed around particular parts of the world, and Britain seems to have more sites dedicated to it than most.
One of the best known of these sites is All British Casino, a site that has enjoyed a fair degree of popularity since its launch.
One assumes that All British Casino has had more of a mountain to climb than most, because its title can come across as rather exclusive. It’s fine promoting Britishness on your site, but All British Casino is just going to make those who are not from Britain feel unwelcome, including those who live in the country but are not from it.
This ostracising of a huge percentage of the online casino community seems like creating an unnecessary hurdle for yourself in an already incredibly difficult market to crack, but All British Casino stands stoically but its theme, and to some level, that should probably be respected.
Design and theme
It will come as no surprise to you to hear that the colour scheme of All British Casino is red, white, and blue, because what else would it be?
In case you’re still not fully aware of the theme, there’s a helpful skyline of London across the top of the page just to remind you of it again, frankly, it’s a little bit of overkill.
As you scan down the homepage, you will be greeted by the usual thumbnails that sites will often now incorporate into their design, partly to allow the design of the games themselves to create much of the imagery on the page, and to allow players instant access to popular games on the site.
Putting these thumbnails over a straight blue background was a sensible choice, because continuing the three-colour scheme would have created far too much noise on the site and been distracting and unattractive.
As it stands, All British Casino is a pretty good looking site, but the relentless British imagery just feels a bit much, and, to be honest, more than a little outdated. Sticking to a theme is one thing, but there’s no need to continuously throw it down people’s throats.
When you are a site that is fairly restricting with its theme, you need to make sure that you are offering a strong collection of games to players to maintain their interest. Unfortunately, this does not appear to be something All British Casino is aware of, as their games only come from Microgaming and NetEnt.
To be fair, these are arguably the two biggest and most popular software providers in the online casino industry, but that also means that games from these two developers are available at pretty much every online casino site you’ll ever go to.
The difference is, those other sites offer games from different developers as well, immediately putting them in a far stronger position than All British Casino.
The games that are here are good, obviously, because they’re Microgaming and NetEnt games, but there simply is not enough of them to stand out in any way, in fact, All British Casino looks inferior even when compared to quite mediocre sites.
The theme in itself doesn’t ruin this site, but the over-the-top execution, combined with the lack of software developer supplying games, means that All British Casino is unlikely to appeal to many players.
