Gaming operators take a stand on Europe

Gaming operators are vocalising their objections to the potential exit from the EU. The 23rd of June will see voters declaring their views on whether or not the UK should remain in Europe. The objections of the gaming industry are varied, and include statements about the implications for travel and for the potential removal of EU tariffs.A key gaming provider from London has said that UK iGaming operators have a ‘duty’ to object to restrictions on movement and the right to trade throughout Europe.

Is it a Tory issue?

Gaming providers are especially rattled by the battles being waged between UK politicians. An anonymous source described his annoyance that such an important issue, which could have far reaching effects on business, travel and local communities, is being seriously affected by divisions in British parliament. He says it is becoming a ‘Tory party pissing contest between Cameron and Johnson’.A spokesperson for iGaming bosses said that ‘If the UK votes for Brexit our travel arrangements will be thrown into chaos’. Visa and licensing could both become significant barriers to the British gaming industry. The 23rd of June could spell disaster for online gaming in the UK.
