Last night, Channel 4 launched their first major trailer for the popular Great British Bake Off 2019. Betting markets have already opened even though no official names of contestants have been revealed, plus which presenters will be in the new series and who, if any are set to leave.

Who’s In?

Since moving to Channel 4 in 2017, new faces Noel Fielding and Sandy Toksvig have presented the amateur baking show with Prue Leith and Paul Hollywood judging the competition.Sandy had spoke of her role and said it was not a long term role, odds of her leaving first are 1/1 even-money. Odds of Comedian Noel Fielding leaving the show first are set at 5/2.The odds that Prue would leave before Paul Hollywood are so far 11/2.The new trailer, which aired last night has not given any specific details as to when the show will begin or any information about the contestants. Generally, the show airs mid-August with the names of the contestants released shortly before.

16,000 Applicants

Over 16,000 would be bakers applied for the tenth series with auditions taking place in January this year. Out of the volume of entrants just twelve will be chosen to appear in the latest series.During a BBC Radio interview, Sandy Toksvig was overwhelmed by the sheer volume of entrants.“ They are doing auditions at the minute for the new series, 16,000 people have applied. That’s the number of people who think, ‘Actually, I would be good’.”Once the twelve finalists are revealed, betting will commence on this years frontrunners and would be winners.

Hilarious Trailer

The new promo released is a little different from previous trailers with more focus on the contestants rather than the presenters. In the opening scene, which depicts a news broadcast with the news reader declaring “ Cake fever is sweeping the nation.”We see people clearing supermarket shelves of baking ingredients with people cooking all sorts of culinary delights in their kitchens.A hand extending from a painting on a wall represents the famous ‘Paul Hollywood handshake’.The whole trailer is hilariously funny and all played out to the Beatles classic track, ‘All Together Now’.Although no official start date has been announced, it does mention in the trailer ‘Coming Soon’. It’s likely to be steering towards the end of August as previous shows have taken place. https://youtu.be/xzSTqVUWEzU
