Culture Secretary Jeremy Wright Hits Back At Banks And BookiesThe UK Government’s Culture Secretary Jeremy Wright has hit back at banks and bookies warning if a crack down is not imminent on gambling with credit cards, they could see it being banned altogether.

Connection

Next month the UK Gambling Commission (UKGC) are to hold a meeting to try and establish just how much of a connection there is to serious gambling addiction and deposits made via a credit card.Mr Wright spoke last night and said, “ Protecting people from the risk of gambling related harm is vital and all businesses connected to gambling – be that bookmakers, social media platforms or banks – must be sociably responsible.”“ The government will not hesitate to act if businesses don’t continue to make progress in this area and do all they can to ensure vulnerable people are protected.”

Block Credit Cards

Just last week we saw banks were to impose a feature where vulnerable players can block their credit cards from being used at bookies, this is a further step in ensuring that players are not getting in too deep.
