An Irish family of 9 have scooped the latest £153 million Euromillions jackpot. This lucky syndicate was made up entirely of family members. Upon realising they won big, two of the sisters decided to keep the lottery ticket under a mattress. Yes! A mattress, what a great idea. Kathleen Sheridan, one of the nine winning siblings came forward after some time to claim the incredible amount. They each pocketed £17 million each, making it the biggest lottery jackpot win in Irish history. The winning ticket itself was put inside an Argos catalogue and that was placed under the mattress for safekeeping until it was deposited.
The Family’s Response to Winning
The family are overjoyed and see the win as unbelievable. They went on to say:‘It will take us some time to get our heads around this win and to organise ourselves. We are a very close family. We meet every week and we take holidays together every year. This is a dream come true for us. We don’t want this to change our lives. What is so exciting is that we will be able to share this money with children, grandchildren and extended family members.’ One of the family members said she realised the family’s incredible fortune when she checked the winning ticket on Tuesday night after the numbers were drawn. He said: ‘I heard on the RTE news that there was a win in Ireland and I caught the last three numbers. I checked the rest of the numbers online. I was numb. It took a bit of convincing everybody that we had won. I didn’t sleep a wink all night.’ The family from The Naul have lived in the area for two generations.
