Camelot have been in the news a fair bit recently, having been fined over £1 million by the UK Gambling Commission (UKGC) last month, after numerous reported ‘failings’.However, the most recent news from Camelot is far more positive, with the announcement of changes that are designed to make the National Lottery product more “appealing” to UK players. The main way that this is intended to occur is through a pledge to pay out higher prizes more frequently.Camelot Announces Higher Lottery Prize Payouts

The Changes

From November (2018 there will be a huge change to the prize for five numbers and the bonus ball, which will rise from its current fixed jackpot of £50,000, all the way up to £1 million, replacing the current raffle draw. While not as extreme, there will also be price rises across the board for lower prizes, with five numbers paying out a fixed £1,750, as opposed to the current estimated £1,000, while four numbers will go from £100 to £140, and the £25 prize for three numbers will become £30.It’s not only higher prizes that Camelot are promising either, but also more frequent payouts, with the main jackpot only able to rollover five times, up from the current maximum of ten.If five rollovers occur without a winner, then the jackpot will be shared across all other winners from that draw.

Growth

After a review, CEO of Camelot, Nigel Railton, who took the roll on a full-time basis in November 2017, said:“It was clear from the review that we needed to create a more appealing and balanced range of games that offers something for everyone.“In particular, we needed to make our draw games stand out from each other and to give people the ability to play their way – with prizes, chances to win and prices to suit different tastes.”
