Ben Affleck is no stranger to playing the high-stake poker tables after playing in numerous Poker Championships over the years. It’s been reported, he and musician friend, Katie Cherry arrived at the Commerce Casino, LA in the early hours of Sunday morning, visibly drunk.
Totally Wasted
A local tabloid, TMZ released photos of Affleck looking totally wasted at a high stake poker table after spending the evening at a Halloween party.The star bought in with $20,000 to a full, ten-hand table, he played for less than fifteen minutes and walked away with just $1,500 profit before leaving.Other players stated, Affleck was very drunk while he played at the casino and almost fell off his chair at one stage.
Struggle With Alcohol
Affleck’s struggle with alcohol has been well documented by the paparazzi, after the drunk casino encounter, he made a statement on Sunday detailing he had fallen off the wagon, he said,
“ It’s a slip, but I’m not going to let it derail me.”
Affleck has struggled with alcohol on and off and first became sober in the mid 90’s. He was admitted to various rehab centres in 2001, 3027 and 2018. His father was an alcoholic and the actor has had many struggles with the demon drink.Affleck has been a decent celebrity poker player, he won the top prize of $356,400 in the 2004 Californian State Poker Championships. Along with Matt Damon he has been a regular partaker in the WSOP main event.
