An employee of a Wetherspoons pub has won the highest amount that can be won on a National Lottery scratchcard, £4 million.Amadou Gillen of Towbridge, Wiltshire, bought the ticket on his lunch break, discovered that he had won the top prize, and then returned to work to finish his shift.
Afraid to believe
Gillen said that he did not want to stop working, and admitted that he was afraid to believe that he had won the life-changing sum of money until it landed in his account.Gillen also said that he would be buying a car with his winnings, although if you are expecting to see him driving through the streets of Towbridge in a Porsche or a Ferrari you are incorrect, as he intends to buy himself a new Peugeot!
Long shift
Speaking of his huge win, Gillen said:”When I saw the number ‘4’ on the card I knew they didn’t pay out £40, so I knew it had to be £4 million.”I scratched off the rest and oh my, I was so excited.”But I put the card back in my pocket, and went back to finish the rest of my shift.”It was certainly a long shift that day.”He continued:”I didn’t finish until 11.30 pm or 12 that night, so had to work for almost four hours knowing I had won.”Adding “I don’t know how I did it.”On his plans for a new car, Gillen said:”Hopefully I’ll get a small Peugeot and after that and driving for a while and getting experience of driving I’m going to get my dream car, which is a BMW X6.”
