NetEnt are hoping to operate in Pennsylvania by next year and have started the process. Earlier this week NetEnt applied for a license with The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB) to supply local operators with its world-leading online casino games.
Gambling in Pennsylvania
Here’s a bit of background information, nearly a year ago now in October 2017 the Pennsylvania state legislature approved a bill that allows online casino gambling. As you can imagine, this opened the floodgates for applicant to come through. Naturally, NetEnt has filed the application to The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB) for a license to be able to deliver its award-winning table and slots game portfolio to Pennsylvania casinos for their online casino operations.New Jersey was the first US state to regulate online gambling and its successes have lead to Pennsylvania following trend. It will be the second US state to regulate online casino and with almost 13 million people, it is the fifth largest state by population. The state has a long tradition of gambling on the land-based side, with players generating relatively high gross game revenue per capita.
When will this happen?
It’s likely NetEnt will know by the end of 2018 if they will be granted a license to operate in Pennsylvania. If NetEnt are granted a license to operate, then it will be a big operation for them. Thankfully, they can follow a few lessons they would have learnt from being present in New Jersey.Erik Nyman, Managing Director NetEnt Americas LLC, comments: “We are excited to continue our strategic expansion in the US. We have enjoyed success in New Jersey and believe that this will continue in Pennsylvania. We will launch with a mix of our table games, video slots, jackpot games and unique features like free spins that have been greatly appreciated by our customers and their players. Our ambition is to be live in Pennsylvania as soon as the market opens.”
