Controversy often walks hand in hand with Las Vegas, but not usually at the expense of the punters. Sadly, it seems that there are a large portion of gamblers who have been stung by CG Technology recently, with a complaint being filed to the Nevada Gaming Control Board regarding underpayment practices.
Underpaying winners
According to the report, the sports book umbrella brand has underpaid gamblers by approximately $700,000 across 20,000 winning wagers. The story, which first appeared in a Las Vegas Sun, is certainly ruffling feathers amongst Nevada based bookmakers, as it seems that over the past three-years CG Technology has also overpaid around 11,000 parlay wagers by more than $100,000.
Blocking investigations
If that wasn’t enough, the official complaint also states that CG Technology made an attempt to block the investigation from occurring. Looking at the official report, it reveals that “[CG Technology] revealed that incorrect payments on various winning parlay wagers had been a recurring and company-wide error for several years due to a software issue or software issues known to company”.
Crackdown
By the looks of things it seems that the crackdown on CG Technology will be severe. For starters, each complaint made, six counts in total, will equate to a $100,000 fine, resulting in a possible $600,000 total fine. If that wasn’t bad enough, it seems that for this charge a fine hasn’t been deemed as adequate enough punishment. On top of this disciplinary action is fully expected to be taken against the CG Technology’s license, which could prove to be disastrous should anything come of it.Sat in the dock and facing major issues due to notable malpractice, it seems that in spite of supposedly making moves to correct matters, CG Technology is set to feel the full wrath of the Nevada Gaming Control Board.
