If you are wondering what happened to popular mobile casino site Winneroo, you are probably not alone, the site seemed to disappear all of a sudden, but why?
Fear not, intrepid online casino player, it hasn’t gone anywhere, it has just undergone something of a rebrand, and is now going under the name Crystal Spins.
The reasons for this name change are as yet unclear, and on paper it looks to be not necessarily the best idea. Winneroo was a memorable and recognisable name for the brand whereas Crystal Spins is a name not dissimilar than the titles of a number of other online casinos, one of which is called Crystal Spin, and will beat Crystal Spins to the top of a Google search even if you type the name of the latter.
If Crystal Spins enjoys eve a percentage of the success it did as Winneroo, this won’t be true for long, and it is probably Crystal Spin that will end up losing out in the long run, but it still seems like a strange decision to make from an external perspective.
Whatever reason, Crystal Spins looks to pick up where Winneroo left off, by offering one of the widest selections of gamig options for mobile players.
However, it’s not as easy as it once was, mobile players are no longer an untapped resource, the format became so popular amongst players that the iGaming world couldn’t ignore it, so Crystal Spins has a lot more competition at the start of its life than Winneroo arguably ever did.
Design and theme
If you were a fan of Winneroo (and for the record, if you had an account with Winneroo that is now valid at Crystal Spins with no action required on your part) then you will be happy to hear that there has been a very small amount of redecoration done since Crystal Spins moved in.
In fact, apart from the logo and the name of the site, nothing has changed at all. There is still the same happy, dancing man in his kitchen in the banner across the top of the homepage, playing games on his phone while dancing behind an advert for the welcome bonus (100% on your first deposit and 25 spins, at the time of writing, subject to change, terms and conditions apply) and the sign up form for the site.
The colour scheme has remained the same too, the mix of blues, yellows, reds, and more that should be too much, but isn’t due to the subtle shades of the colours used.
Winneroo was always a great looking site with a unique style to it, and it’s nice to see that isn’t looking to change any time soon now the site has changed to Crystal Spins.
Also just as good as ever is the games selection on offer at the Crystal Spins site, which includes titles from 888 Holdings, Blueprint Gaming, Eyecon, IGT, IWG, NetEnt, OpenBet, PariPlay, Pragmatic Play, SG Digital, SG Gaming, SkillOnNet, Stars Group, and Williams Interactive.
Again, in the early stages of Winneroo there was a lot less competition, so this collection left all other mobile focused sites in its dust.
Despite the evolution of this sector of the industry since that time, the range of games here, while falling short of many desktop first sites, is still highly competitive amongst those aimed predominantly at mobile and tablet players.
With an array of slots, and a decent number of table and card games thrown in for good measure, Crystal Spins looks to take the baton from Winneroo and keep right on running!
