Russian Gaming Week (which is rather strangely a two-day event) that took place on June 2nd and 3rd, 2016, saw quite the revelation from the country’s Ministry of Finance. The Ministry announced that they had already written a draft to oversee the taxation of gambling operators in the online industry, assuring that the draft was aimed at providing new responsibilities to entrepreneurs, not restricting their business activities.
Russian Gaming Week
The tenth instalment of the event, based in Moscow, saw Russian gambling companies and their global counterparts come together.Tom Horn Gaming, Bet Construct, Bingo Boom, Pari Match, Join Games, Rub60, and Sport+ were just some of the names that were in attendance from various sides of the industry, with sports betting, online casino, online poker, online lottery, and online bingo companies all being well represented. Bingo Boom president, Konstantin Makarov, made a presentation in which he explained the importance and indeed purpose of self-regulatory bodies within the iGaming industry, as well as going into details about the legislative changes currently being made to the industry. This presentation became even more topical given the change by the government in Russia. The government will be utilising a centralised payment processing system going forward, which they have named TSUPIS.The idea of TSUPIS is to be able to able to process all online payments within the Russian gambling market.
US fantasy sports
There has been a huge rise in fantasy sports in the US over recent years, as has been widely reported, but the phenomenon has, for the most part made little impact in Europe yet.Speakers at Russian Gaming Week gave details on this hugely popular, and still unregulated market, in which players create fantasy sports teams with the intention of beating their friends and others.
