Responsible Gambling Week is a gambling industry initiative, supported by Industry Group for Responsible Gambling. The main aim during the week long campaign is raising awareness in to responsible and safer gambling across the UK and Ireland.
Talk About Safer Gambling
Responsible gambling Week (RGW) is designed to get people talking about safer gambling, tools and information to promote responsible gambling, gambling more safely and who to contact for support and advice in the event of a gambling problem or gambling related harm.Originally set up in 2017, the RGW has seen huge success in spreading awareness around gambling, related harm and the effects a gambling addiction can have on a person or family.Over 10,000 gambling establishments with more than 12,000 staff members are involved in the campaign. There will be special events held initiating conversations on safer gambling, responsible gambling messages will be displayed on gaming machine screens, Football advertising space will be used to display RGW information.RGW is about spreading the word on safer gambling to the widest audience through, land based and online casinos, bingo halls, betting shops, media owners, football clubs and associations. The campaign is aimed at all types of gambler whether you are a casual gambler, regular gambler and anyone who have friends or family who would benefit from gambling related information and advice.
Educating The Younger Generation
Gamcare and YGAM are holding special training events aimed at professionals who work with young children. Teaching them ways of educating the younger generation on safer gambling, gambling habits and the risks associated with gambling.The campaign is partnered by the charity Gamcare, who offer information and learning tools to help people with gambling related problems, they also run the National Gambling helpline. RGW is fully supported by the industry regulator, the UK Gambling Commission and YGAM.
