Genesis Global who are responsible for eleven gaming platforms are to appeal against an interim license suspension by the United Kingdom Gambling Commission (UKGC).
Investigation
Earlier this week, a statement from the UKGC stated it had suspended Genesis license under section 116(2)(a) allowing the regulator to conduct compliance checks and said the operator was ‘unsuitable to carry out licensed activities’.Genesis reported previous compliance assessments carried out early July had no ‘adverse material findings’.In a statement Genesis said, “ Genesis has expressed their extreme level of disappointment with this determination and outcome and is therefore firmly committed to complying with the UKGC’s extensive range of regulations.”
Legal Advice
Genesis have now taken independent legal advice regarding the suspension and the decision was ‘disproportionate’ and ‘inconsistent’ with the regulators previous compliance assessments.Genesis will continue to implement its ongoing compliance systems, policies and procedures and continue improving on them. Safer gambling policies are always a priority for its players and hope in due course this will be reflected in the regulators inquiry.“ To our loyal and trusting stakeholders, in particular our dedicated customers, team suppliers and others, we assure you that it is business as usual I all other jurisdictions in which the company operates and we appreciate your continued support during these challenging times.”
