April’s revenue reports for New Jersey have shown that the online casino industry in the state continues to go from strength to strength.Revenues from the iGaming industry in New Jersey have risen again year on year, with iGaming revenues for Atlantic City casinos at $23 million, a rise of 10.6% from the $20.8 million recorded last year.
The breakdown
The revenue from table games and slots is up from $190.9 million in April 2017, to $191.4 million this year, while the entire gaming win is up 1.3% to $214.4 million year on year. The highest grossing casino for April was the Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa, which made $57.7 million, which was actually down 7.9% from April last year, suggesting that the wealth is being shared a little more than this time last year.Resorts Hotel casino was the biggest beneficiary of this change, enjoying a huge lift in earning from $13.9 million in April 2017, to $17.2 million last month.
Drop in total
Casino revenues in general in the state of New Jersey have dropped since this time last year, with casinos in the state having earned a total of $716.7 million this year, a substantial dip from $763.5 million last year.It is, however, clear that while the casino industry as a whole seems to be dropping, online gaming is at a record high, with the year-to-date total up to $92.6 million, an impressive 15.5% increase from last year. The numbers suggest that the likelihood is that online casino earnings will pick up the slack from diminishing revenues elsewhere, and if the growth continues like it has been so far, then the revenues for the casino industry in New Jersey as a whole can be expected to start rising again in the near future.
