The state of New Jersey are taking gambling problems very seriously indeed. New Jersey regulators have confiscated over $107,000 from illegal gamblers at Atlantic City’s Borgata Casino, who were either underage or had self excluded. Borgata’s partner bwin.party have received a fine of $81,000 from regulators.
Illegal Practice
Borgata Casino has said they take responsible gambling very seriously and had notified the authorities themselves as soon as they were aware of the illegal gambling practice.Speaking on the matter, Borgata Casino president Marcus Glover said,“ Borgata’s Team members are well trained on responsible gambling policies, and we approach these requirements with the utmost importance,”“ Borgata consistently self-reports to uphold our operational integrity, as indicated by the instances of forfeited funds rather than fines. Our company’s records of supporting regulatory efforts is unmatched and we will always strive to uphold the highest standards, not only in compliance but in customer care and harm minimisation”.Bwin.party had incorrectly processed player’s requests to be removed from a self-exclusion program. The players had self-excluded for five years but they were able to play in as little as one year it was reported. Also, it was found that players under 21 had been able to gamble which is also illegal. Borgata Casino did not receive a fine but had to hand over the money it had taken off the illegal gamblers involved.
