There has been some immediate fallout from the news that Euromillions was to raise the price of tickets in the near future. However, on closer inspection, it becomes apparent that there are reasons for the rise in price, and they are of great benefit to Euromillions players.
Increased price
The price of a Euromillions ticket will increase as stated, the new price will be €2.50 in Europe, and £2.50 in the UK.
Advantages
The first perk that customers can look forward to is an increase in the Lucky Stars which players can choose from, changing from 11 to 12.There will also be new promotions occurring at Euromillions, including jackpot draws of up to £100 million and a brand new pan-European raffle event series by the name of the European Millionaire Maker, which intend to make 25 new millionaires by the end of October. The Euromillions has become the biggest lottery in the world in terms of sales, meaning that the overall jackpot has raised, as has the amount of general wins, which has led to the rise in price. The licensed UK lottery operator, Camelot UK, is implementing more local enhancements, these include doubling the number of UK millionaires guaranteed in every draw from one, to two, and the annual minimum to 208.
Social benefits
Camelot UK´s Sally Cowdry made a point of the social benefits offered by Euromillions, “capturing the UK´s imagination with its exhilarating jackpots and numerous multi-million pound winners – boosting returns to Good Causes in the process.”Camelot UK went further, clarifying “95% of the money spent on National Lottery products goes back to UK winners and society.”Tickets for the new version of the Euromillions draw go on sale on Saturday September 24th, 2016, with the first draw taking place on Tuesday September 27th, 2016.
