Fred Done founder of Betfred has donated £1.25M to the Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital, the donation came from profits made at Cheltenham Festival’s first day of racing which took place last Tuesday.
£4M Target
Cheltenham Festival is one of the busiest horse racing calendar events in the UK. Fred had said he would donate all profits from the first day of racing to the hospital to help raise funds for an iMRI scanner. The target amount is £4M and has now reached the halfway marker. Fred’s wife Mo lost her battle with cancer last year, so raising money for the scanner is close to Fred’s heart.
Tribute To ‘Mo’
Fred Done said,” It’s truly humbling that I have been able to help with this appeal for much-needed equipment. I think Mo had a word with God telling him to give some help to the children. There could not have been a better result for the scanner than the Cheltenham Festival Tuesday. From my own sad experience, I know how important it is to have world-class equipment available to help save the lives of your loved ones. The new scanner will save the lives of seriously ill children brought to Manchester from all over the country and that is a fitting tribute to Mo’s memory. I feel privileged that I have been able to help.”
