It was the biggest jackpot in its history, which catapulted Steve Thompson into becoming a multi millionaire. The builder won a staggering £105M playing EuroMillions last month, and is now one of the richest men in the UK.
Not Sunk In
Steve, 42, from Selsey, West Sussex hasn’t spent any of his fortune, instead he bought himself a ‘second-hand run around’. Most winners would quit work and sit back deciding what to do with their new found fortune, not Steve, the builder returned to work to finish off jobs that were promised before Christmas.Steve spoke to the Mirror saying the car is a couple of years old and the win had sent him on an “emotional rollercoaster”. He also stated he won’t be going on any extravagant shopping spree saying,“I’m not going to go out and start to splash it around, it still hasn’t sunk in.”
Normality
The whole situation has taken its toll on the builder, unable to sleep, going back to work is a coping mechanism. Steve wants to feel normal and that’s how he would like things to continue. He desperately want’s to finish off as many jobs before Christmas and will do as much as he can.Steve checked the ticket a few days after the draw while waiting for his lift to work. He said he felt he was about to have a heart attack after realising he had matched all seven numbers and won the jackpot.Steve and wife Lenka have three children and hope to move out of their current £120,000 home to allow each child to have a bedroom of their own. He hopes in the future to build his own property but will stay in the area as it’s a lovely place to live. He stated his three commitments for the future are family, friends and community. Good luck to them all.
