Chomp Casino Review
Launched in 2015, Chomp Casino is not based on the popular chocolate bar which has gone up so steeply in price in recent years. In fact, this is an online casino that is part of the Nektan family, which, if you know much about Nektan, you will know means it has numerous similarities with its network brethren.
It is confusing how, in such a competitive industry, certain networks seem to put no effort in to creating exciting or impressive sites, and instead just attempt to create as many sites as possible in what one can only assume is a plan designed to get the most players with the least work.
There may have been a point when Nektan felt like a giant of the industry, with a decent percentage of popular sites being on the network, but with the highly competitive nature of the industry now, Nektan just feels outdated, like it’s stuck in the past and left trying the same thing again and again with no increased levels of success.
That being said, we’ve been surprised by Nektan sites before (not many, and not always a good surprise, but still) so let’s give Chomp Casino the benefit of the doubt and see if this is the site that changes all our assumptions on Nektan sites.
Design and theme
When you arrive at Chomp Casino, you are likely to become swiftly aware that this site is unlikely to accomplish that.
At first, you are met with a screen that simple shows you the welcome bonus, with generic images from games behind it. There’ nothing necessarily wrong with this, but having to click the mouse to access the site once you’ve already arrived at the site is more work than the spoilt world of online casinos is used to these days.
When you do enter the site, you will be met with exactly what you expect, the default Nektan layout.
Varying sizes of thumbnail leading to a number of available games isn’t only designed the same as other Nektan sites, the games are even in the same order.
The game categories down the side of the page and the banner that scrolls through various game artwork and advertises the welcome bonus and other promotions are also Nektan mainstays, in fact, the only thing different here is the logo, and being that is just the name of the site written in a simple font, this feels like every Nektan site we’ve seen before although arguably less attractive than some due to the odd pink colour scheme.
As we had all expected by this point, the games available at Chomp Casino are the same games that are available at most other Nektan sites.
That isn’t to say it’s a bad collection, because it isn’t, an array of titles from the likes of Big Time Gaming, Blueprint Gaming, Extreme Live Gaming, Felt, Gamevy, IGT, Microgaming, Nektan, NetEnt, NextGen Gaming, NYX Gaming, Realistic Games, SG Gaming, and Williams Interactive means there’s a lot to love about the games on offer here.
The problem is, we’ve seen it before so many times that it’s impossible to get excited by it anymore. When you’re looking at the same design and the same offering of games that you’ve seen at countless other sites over the years, it takes all the shine off it (in the case of Chomp Casino, there wasn’t much shine from a design perspective anyway, but still) and that’s a real shame.
Chomp Casino is fine, like all it’s sibling sites are, but fine won’t cut it anymore, and Nektan really need to bring something new to the table.
