Cherry Casino has been a fairly involuntary part of a game of online casino pass the parcel in the past few years, having been taken over by the Betsson group, well known for (unsurprisingly) Betsson casino, before being returned to the hands of its original owners, imaginatively called the Cherry Group.
A site that has clearly been in demand in some circle, Cherry Casino has a name that make it clear that this is a site that is looking to call back to the heady nostalgia of fruit machines and arcade games, which is not the worst idea as all things retro are about as trendy as they can be right now, especially on the online casino market.
Cherry casino is, therefore, undoubtedly aiming at the right target audience, but having a good idea, and executing that idea, are not the same thing, and we’ve seen many sites enter the scene with a good concept, only to swiftly exit it again because the execution left something to be desired.
Design and theme
It is surprising how many designers of online casinos do not seem to understand the difference between being retro, and simply being derivative, and Cheery Casino is undoubtedly a victim of this particular confusion.
A black and gold colour scheme is used here, which it’s impossible to get excited about, because any online casino that wants to focus on the themes of affluence and elegance and tempt in the high rollers uses that exact same colour scheme and it’s just boring now.
Then things get weird.
It’s nice to see a site that buys in fully to its theme, and Cherry Casino does that, but it does it in a way that makes it feel more than a little disturbing.
In the banner and in the background, various casino and mobile casino based images appear, but in each one the head of the protagonist is replaced by a cherry, and it looks like the makings of a bad Doctor Who episode.
Navigation is simple enough, and the design isn’t ugly, but combining the predictable with the downright terrifying is not necessarily the way to tempt in the most online casino fans possible!

With the design it utilises, it’s hard to know if Cherry Casino that is about fun, or has a more serious feel, but one thing that is sure is that this casino is not messing about when it comes to games.
