When it comes to online casino companies, there are few names that are as well-known as 888. After a little bit of awkward news after a failed joint takeover of William Hill (more than one in fact) 888 are showing no signs of backing up, and still stand proud as one of the most trusted and respected names on the online casino market.

Part of the reason for this faith from players is a collection of popular online casino sites, split into various sections for ease of access.

However, one could suggest that this may not be the wisest decision. I understand that there is a lot of content to get through, and splitting up sites does make navigation easier for players, but there’s a limit, and I would suggest it may have been crossed when 888 Ladies became a thing. Whether this will prove successful depends very much on the quality of each individual site, so let’s take 888 Games and see if it is, in terms of appearance and content, able to form a challenge to its competitors, or whether it would’ve needed its brethren sites beside it to do so.

Design and theme

If you like purple, then I’ve got some good news for you. The colour scheme here really does rely quite heavily on this particular colour, which I’m okay with, but I like purple. Perhaps going exclusively for various shades of this eye-catching colour was not the most sensible of options to have gone for, and adding luminous yellow for accents and highlighting doesn’t help that case much.

Looking past the colour scheme, the main purpose of this design concept appears to be to offer ease of navigation, jackpot slots are available with one click from the website, and information on the site itself and its promotions mean that it is easy to find your way around this site, which is useful, but also expected by this point.

The problem 888 Games has, is that it has a design that would have been very popular ten years ago, maybe even five, but the world has moved on a lot since then, and the way this site looks and feels just gives the impression that it’s been left behind.

Unfortunately, it is not the best selection around, and when the rest of the site (aside from the welcome bonus) is such a vast disappointment, there was a lot of fixing that needed to be done. Basically, the games selection here needed to be incomparable, and it isn’t, it’s good, it is almost excellent, but it isn’t the best, and that’s what it needed to be.

888 Holdings is a giant of the online casino industry, and the part it played in making the market as big as it is cannot be overstated, and means it will probably continue to enjoy success for a long time. But as far as the 888 Games site goes, it feels like it’s time that this old dog learned some new tricks.
